  1. Hi paul, i'm Marcus from germany, so sorry for bad english. First i want to thank you for your great programming ideas. With the help of your base building manual, i improved my deadlift from 185 kg to 210 kg. My weight is 85 kg, so i am on my way to 3xbodyweight. I owe all of my progress to base building so thank you again. Now my question. Is it OK to base build in presses and squats while concentrating on back building. Or would this be to much for recovery. Keep up the gold work. You are an inspiration for me and my lifting buddys here in germany.

    1. First off, thank you for your support. And second your English is just fine.

Third, in the article I state you need to put things on the back burner when you specialize. So that means if you want to work on bringing the back up, then I wouldn't do base building because it is a taxing way of training. You need to decide what you want to do first.

  2. Would something like high rep hyperextensions or 45 degree back raises have a place in a program like this?

    1. Possibly but I don't like that idea as much because my guess is you're planning on substituting the stiff legs for it.
