Bodyweight - 245

Hip and Ass Machine - 2 sets
Calf Press - 2 sets of 20

Squats -
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 5
405 x 3

455x1
500x1
555x1

500x5

High Bar Pause Squats - 425x3

Adductor Machine - 90x15
Abductor Machine - stack x 25

Notes - Did not feel very good this morning.  No energy and very sluggish.  The weights didn't feel heavy but I just didn't have the speed I would like to have had on these.  Just a case of having a bit of an off day energy wise.  I do have a bit of a cold, but I've had good workouts with a cold before, so I'll just chalk it up to a down day.  Still, no grinding and the weight is easy.  A few more weeks and I will have to dig down a little.  But I'm never going to act like I conquered the world before or after a lift.  That's just not me.

I also apologize about the gym music.  I you notice I have headphones on.  I hate modern gyms now with this shit.  They play music that people at the front desk like, not shit you want to listen to to lift weights.  Die in an aids tree grease fire!

  1. Kind of a gay question, but whatever. Where do you find cargo shorts that don't restrict you when you squat?

  2. I've found that most of the cargo style shorts I find are made big enough not to give me a problem. And my legs and ass are QUITE large.

  3. Good to see someone else who looks down when they squat...

  4. Yeah Rick I don't get the whole "drive your head back into the bar" shit. I never have. Your hips drive the squat, not your torso.

  5. I think the head back thing is probably a gear thing. Nothing wrong with that, but I think many lifters write articles about lifting without even thinking about the fact that geared and raw lifts have different mechanics. Consider most bench articles on elite as evidence.
Paul have you tried super dosing with vitamin C to get rid of a cold before? A friend of mine swears he got rid of swine flu in about 4 days by regularly (like about every waking hour) dosing himself with vitamin C. Would be interested in your opinion on this or your experience if you gave it a try. Personally I'll be trying it next time I'm sick (which hopefully won't be soon) but I always like a 3rd or 4th informed opinion.

  6. I know what you mean about the geared vs raw thing and I see that alot and guys becoming confused about instituting geared practices into their raw stuff. Some guys do ok with that stuff, but I just never have.

I actually have done the vit-C thing before with emergen-c and yeah it does work and it's time for me to do it again. I may knock it out over the next two days. Will pick up emergen-c at WAlgreens tomorrow and post results in a couple of days.

  7. Vit C does not affect common cold and does surely not cure "swine flu". Please do not left such nonsense uncommented!

    Nice squatting!

  8. It does "cure" mono. I have spoken PERSONALLY with a guy that did it, and have read other medical journals that talked about.

Don't ignore anecdotal evidence. I have used vit C loading in the past to shorten colds and such.

Thanks for the squatting compliment. :)

  9. Hey Paul,

    1) Nice squatting.
    2) Your gym's music would actually be an improvement over some of the stuff I've heard playing in weight rooms.
    3) From what I understand, vitamin C doesn't cure colds, but it does help with symptoms, which is good enough for me. At least, that's what they taught me in clown college (I have a degree in nutrition or whatever).

  10. Actually I slept like 10 hours last night and feel awesome today. So maybe that's all I needed.

  11. I know there is some contradicting information out. but there are several metastudies which show that there is no effect of Vit C on the "common cold"

but I think it d be best not to overevaluate it because one could destroy the placebo effect of Vit C. ^^

I just wanted to make the important point with the swine flu.

in case you want destroy the possible placebo:

    but zinc gluconat might help:

  12. Paul I would bust right out of a pair of those shorts and have on several accounts in my gym. Nothing like finish your last 3 heavy sets with you undies hanging out! Hahaha!

  13. Well I have a fairly gigantic ass and legs and haven't had that problem yet. Maybe buy a size bigger?

Nothing wrong with finishing a set with your jewels out.
