Great article from Rippetoe on squatting deep

If you go to the live spill take notice of what he says about deloads.  Why the hell would you "plan" a deload?

Music to my ears.

  1. Does Rippetoe regularly post on that site?

  2. In the live spill he does. Not sure about on the boards because I rarely look on there. I know he does at startingstrength at the boards there.

  3. I've noticed a larger variety of authors on that site now. So there are not many who post regularly anymore, but its still 1 new article a day.

  4. Great link, thanks Paul. I go back and forth between squats and deads being my favourite lift, but always land back with deads. I think it's partly because I'm more of a natural puller, but I also think that squatting is THE most taxing lift there is. I always go into squat sessions with trepidation, because I know it's going to bleed me dry. But then it's when it hurts that it really counts, right. That's something my trainer taught me. Along with proper squat form. I get flamed if I even stop at parallel.

It's pretty shocking how many guys I see doing partial squats at my gym though. (And how few women I see squatting AT ALL.) I'd say something, but I don't think they'd appreciate it. I'm still not clear on gym etiquette on these things..

  5. If someone is offended at someone telling them they need to squat deeper then they need to leave their ego at the gym door and be willing to learn.
