Happy Birfday 'Murica

I will be starting the lifer series after today, but I wanted to make a post to give thanks for the freedoms I get to enjoy in this great nation.

I also want to say thanks to all of you guys, and gals, who have written to me telling about how much ass you've been kicking since you have employed my philosophies, techniques, and ideas into your training.  It's been a bit overwhelming lately, but in a good way.  It's long been my passion to coach and help people in regards to training and life in general.  So every time I get an e-mail or message about one of you guys hitting a new PR or how you've got into condition or were inspired by anything I said or wrote, man it's like Christmas morning.

Thanks to all you guys for being fucking awesome and the continuation of becoming the best and baddest mother fuckers you can be.

Also in the coming weeks, I'm going to be talking about all the ways you can use the various splits and cycles from SLL so as to get your lifts past plateaus and into new PR territory.  Fucking excited about this because there are so many possibilities.

Now bar-b-q something made of meat!

  2. Hey Paul,

Just wanted to let you know that thanks to a lot of your training advice and tips, I (finally) hit 190lbs x2 today on bench press, and on Monday I hit 250x6 on squats. Might not be too impressive a weight for a lot of people, but its pretty damn good for me.

Love the blog, love the book. Keep up the great work.

    John

    1. John - Lifer attitude son....all that matters is what YOU are doing brother. Remember that.

      Good job.

    2. Thanks for the reminder. My raw total two months ago was 850lbs, and I'm hoping to get at least 950 @ 198lbs/12%bf (I'm 215/18%bf) by the end of the year.

  3. Inspired by your 100 rep curls I did the same thing, only since I'm half the man you are I used an empty EZ Curl Bar. The first 30 were a breeze, then I had to man up. I did get 100, but I haven't been able to straighten my arms in 2 days.

    Rock on Paul.

  4. Most importantly, you deserve our "Thanks", Paul. You've done a great job with the blog and the book (which is awesome, by the way).

And looking forward to the new series about the SLL splits.

  5. Finally broke 13% bodyfat this morning, after dieting down from >30% a few months ago. I avoided cutting for a long time because I didn't want to lose strength, but I broke down after reading more and more about the "Stay strong, stay in shape" mantra promoted by guys like you, Wendler, and C&P.

I was reading about some of the oldtime strongmen just last night, and it occurred to me that you never see any photos of them "bulked". Rather, they seemed to stay lean and mean year long. That's how I aspire to be in the future.

    1. God damn, 30 to 13 is amazing! That had to be a heck of a ride.

      Great fucking job man.

    2. It turned out to be not so bad -- just a lot of patience and persistence. The strength losses weren't so bad, and I look and feel 1000% better. I'll be seeing some family next week that I haven't seen since Christmas -- I'm looking forward to seeing their reactions! :-)
