SPPC check in. Halfway through!

I know there are still some people that have stayed hardened enough to stay with it.

Let's hear how the progress is going and other such shit........

  1. still goin strong on this. My numbers are not great right now because I'm right in the teeth of my cut but I've dropped down to 215 and counting from 247 in January. At this point my numbers have taken a back seat to seeing how low my bodyfat % will go. I have PR'd on my bench however and I think it's because I have really brushed up on form for all my lifts because I'm losing some strength from dieting. Really looking forward to late August/ early September when I can start eating up again.

  2. Testing my maxes now after 3 months of 5/3/1 - MP (130#) up 15#, BP 205#) up 20#, DL (330#) up 30#, and gonna do squat tomorrow. Always been the bean pole type so am trying to stick to something that's consistent and makes gains - these are the heaviest weights I have ever lifted. Once I get my #'s up to what I think is solid for me at 170# BW, then I'll begin to look at other programs/variations - especially your various templates. For now it's about staying the course! Thanks pual!

  3. hey paul, im looking to pick up adjustable db's like the ones you have, where did you get them?

also, I used to read this blog back when it was called functional strength I think, and for some reason I stopped visiting a lot of the strength sites I knew of, and then I eventually forgot about them. I stumbled upon jamie's blog after hearing about it from bodybuilding.com and then from jamie I rediscovered your blog and followed it for about 5 months until just now realizing what blog it was. I think you have done an awesome job and I really enjoyed your books.

    1. I got those from ironmind. They cost a couple of bucks, just to warn you. Everything at ironmind is overpriced as fuck.

And thanks man, I appreciate it.

    3. Yup. If you are just making something up to 100's for pressing you can grab something cheaper. Oly fitter sleeves work best because you don't need to buy special plates.

  6. Paul,

I checked in on your last call. I started lifting on January 6. I started cleaning up my diet on March 3. I started at 324.6. I am currently 288, so I am down a little less than 37 pounds.

I am still doing the program as written. When I get to 285, I will start hills.

I have done some form of exercise on every day since March 30th. I currently do a squat, push, and pull 3 days a week and do 3 small muscle workouts a week. I love it!

I am on the process of being a lifer. I have lifted longer than you, but not as consistent as you. I am 46, and am looking forward to lifting the rest of my life with a lean, strong body.

    Thanks for all you do.

  7. Paul,

I was a late start to this, so i am only finishing up the first run-through of Strong 15 next week.

Had to condense it into two sessions this week and next week due to a vacation, but everything has been f'n flying! My dead has been stalled for over a year at 465 and i lost 30lbs since january and crushed 445, 405x3 the other day and have no doubts ii'll be good for over that.

My question is about the deload/meet week. I don't have a meet coming up and i'll be finished next week. Do i do a lighter week, then jump right into another wave of Strong-15 with a small goal. I don't plan on testing yet, i don't need to test the lifts on all 3 to know i've gotten stronger on them by the speed and quality of each rep and i'd rather leave it as a "pleasure til later" or some shit. Or should i take the light week with the workup to 1x5@50%, then take a full week off after that.

Thanks for the answer, the blog, etc. You e-book is fucking legendary in my eyes. I keep it open on my laptop everyday at work and just pick sections to re-read and soak in.

p.s. I have to curse you for an introduction to Klokov's.
