Diet starts tomorrow, news on book and shirts and the podcast

So the diet starts tomorrow.  So today, we did bodyfat, measurements, and all that shit just to see what happens over the next 6 weeks.

The bodyfat calipers say I'm basically 10%, but I think it's more like 13%.  Either way, it's enough for me to go "hey it's time to concentrate on conditioning and lean out for the warm months...."

My measurements were as follows........

Bodyweight - 252
Chest - 52
Legs - 30
Arms and Calves - 18.75
Waist - 37

I have most definitely put on some quality muscle over the last year or so.  I feel pretty damn solid about my starting point for summer.  The goal after summer will be to add a few more pounds of quality mass, do a meet in winter, then continue to add mass over winter, and part of fall.  Then possibly do a bodybuilding show in the summer of 2013.  I just want to check that off the bucket list of shit I've done.

I also got all of the pics done for the book today.  And to add, Mike D'Antonio is doing the art design work for the cover, and for the shirts that will come shortly after.  In case that name doesn't ring a bell, he's the bass player for Killswitch Engage.

Speaking of shirts, the Death is winning....shirts are being print and I should have them in this week!  Fuck yeah!  I have a very limited supply because I had them put on a really nice poly-cotton shirt like you guys asked for, so get in quick when I put these out.

Oh and to add to that, I might have an actual REAL celeb (and by celeb, I mean a dude that ha been in quite a few movies) do a podcast with us in the coming weeks.  It's not a lock, but it could happen.  We'll see bro............

  1. I can't wait Paul. Looking forward to this shit. The podcasts and random shit you and Jamie post on your blogs keep me going while I am finishing paramedic school. Awesome work.

  2. D'Antonio is doing your graphic design?? Haha, that is truly awesome my friend. Although I heard he's a vegetarian...

I'll snag a shirt and the book and soon as they come out brother.

A complete aside regarding the podcast: you should seriously hit up Psycho Mike from Loveline. The dude used to be amateur bodybuilder, so he'll a least be able to keep up somewhat with training talk.

    1. I have no idea who that is, but sounds fun.

      Wasn't loveline a radio shot?

    2. Yeah, it's still on air. Although now they've added some british chick to their show, who shouldn't be giving any advice on relationships, or anything at all really.

But yeah, Mike is fucking hilarious. Here's his wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Catherwood

He seems more down to earth and possibly more willing to do a podcast with you guys than some other celebs. Plus, he's a former crack addict, that's always a good time.

  3. Paul,
Just want to start by saying I love the blog. You and Wendler have the 2 best training sites anywhere online. Quick question in regards to the shake diet. Do you recommend adhering to the use of MRPs as the shake component, or will a regular protein shake work instead, maybe with some olive oil or flax oil added. Maybe it's a non-factor and I'm overthinking things but I'd appreciate your two cents on the matter. Thanks for motivation and keep up the good work

    1. You could. But I like the fact that I get some carbs in with the MRP's. But you could even mix it up day to day.

  4. Paul, I see lifters talk about heaving things like cashews, almonds, and other nuts in their diets, but what about other legumes? I quite like black beans and chickpeas, for instance, but I feel like I never see beans mentioned as a staple for lifters. Is there a reason why?

    1. Poor source of protein really. Those are incomplete sources of protein, and most guys add in nuts for the fat content.

    2. Decent option for carbs in place of rice?

    3. Don't know if you cook out much, but one thing I love about grilling weather is that my wife starts making sweet potato salad as a frequent side to whatever I'm grilling or barbecuing. Basically just like potato salad, but with sweet potatoes and an oil and vinegar dressing instead of mayo. This week she made it with green onions, red bell peppers, and a little bacon. That shit is awesome with grilled chicken.
